V8 Torque and horsepower excel based simulators
Dyno V8 hot rod engine simulator that is a user-friendly Excel based GUI to predict and plot the torque and horsepower vs. RPM curves for V8, 2 valve per cylinder, normally aspirated hot rod engines. It is based on 175 engines from the Engine Master’s competition used as input data to derive a Monte Carlo Neural Network (MCNN) algorithm. These files also contain plots of the measured torque curve vs. predicted torque curve vs. error over the RPM range for each of these 175 engines and a database of these engine’s design parameters and magazine date when they were published. This database allows the user to find an engine that is the closest to his planned build and then use the graphs as well as the simulator to predict the performance. This simulator also predicts the torque and horsepower curves starting at 1000 RPM to determine when the engine will “come on the cam”. The file also contains an extensive error analysis to demonstrates the simulator’s accuracy. An example of its use to determine camshaft performance is included that analyzed a standard Ford 460CI vs. a bored and stroked 460 that would be 545CI with 10 different camshafts. My youtube channel contains a presentation that demonstrates this simulator that I highly recommend you view prior to purchase.
